UK fertility expert West (Plan To Get Pregnant) here provides recipes and an opportunity to examine lifestyle changes for those trying to conceive. The author believes that the right nutrients provide the right building blocks for making a baby and offers what she calls a "preconception diet." Other topics covered include adrenal fatigue effects, hormonal balance, and "calculating your cycle," along with key antioxidants and blood sugar issues. The discussion of diet and lifestyle addresses the needs of both the man and the woman. Recipes include a Sicilian quinoa bowl, fruit and mango cream parfait, and a "stress busting mocha," with a "five-day fertility detox" plan to follow at the beginning. While healthy diet and reducing stress are common-sense ideas, West uses her extensive experience as a fertility adviser to enhance this useful guide. VERDICT A beneficial approach to fertility, this holistic manual is recommended for couples looking for ways to improve the odds of becoming pregnant.--Barbara Kundanis, Longmont P.L., CO
